Welcome!

***The Group Blog/Journal is now open to all members***

The old policy was that if you had an event, sale, or neat thing related the area/your work as a local artist, I would post it on here for you. There weren't many takers.

So I've decided to just open up posting privileges to all of our members. Groups that post as a group, actually feel like groups, Don't you think?

Basic guidelines;

*If you constantly post new entries, it will flood member in-boxes, and people will stop reading. If someone else just posted, wait a day or two.

*Only post about something if you feel that it is important enough to share. Don't just make a post every time you update your personal DA journal (If someone wants to read all your updates, they'll add you to their watch list). Use your better judgement.

*Don't make posts announcing that you have added new work-We already get Dev-watch messages when someone submits work to the group.

*Please post about local events and sales, especially if you're going to be their with your work!

*Sell your work online? Feel free to post a link to your shop, and let us know about any special offers. (If enough people do this, we can work on making a list of shops)

*No spamming, trolling, or redirecting people to other groups.
Stick to the topic, WNY.

*What if there's a problem? What gets posted in our group blog is up to all of you, but if these rules/guidelines are completely ignored, that will change. I'm trusting you-don't let me down. :) If anything breaks these rules or DA's rules (you should already know them), I'll delete it. Not a big deal.

***If you're a member, feel free to try out the blog whenever you want***

Hello There!

This group is open to artists residing in Western New York, those who formerly lived there, or anyone who's been to the area and feels that their work has been influenced by the experience.

Please keep in mind; The main goal of, "Western-NY-Assembled", is the positive portrayal of the WNY area along with giving support to the artists who reside there.

Please also note; While we accept artists of all skill levels, the quality of an artist's work is taken into consideration when deciding on member acceptance. Empty galleries or evidence of copyright violations will hurt your ability to join this group.

To Join;
Submit a member request stating either where in the WNY you live/lived(general area is fine), or why you feel you belong in this group.

Submitting a request does not guarantee acceptance.
Blank Member Requests might be denied.

^^^I've been told that the above statement has scared a few people into not requesting membership, so let me clarify-Just about everyone who asks to join will be let into this club. We're mostly just screening for trolls.

Gallery Info;

Right now, the group gallery is set up for the submission of two types of artwork. 1. Art about WNY. 2. Art by WNY Artists. Please only submit art that fits into these categories. As more members join and start submitting artwork we can determine what other categories people would like to see in this group. Gallery folders/featured work will also start appearing on the homepage.

Please only submit finished pieces. No scraps or WIPs.
All submissions must be your own work and follow Deviantart rules and terms.

And for now-No mature content. We'll put it to a vote later.

If you are a member and have any ideas about this group feel free to post them in the comments section.
Hello Everyone!

As always, if anyone has a local Art show/event/sale going on and wants to post an announcement here, just let me know.

-------

I'm just popping in to let everyone know that since moving into my Art studio 2 years ago I've become a lot more active with Art happenings in Lockport NY and would love to invite everyone to some things;

First, ART247, Market Street in Lockport - That's where my studio is located. Along with a place to work and opportunities to sell artwork, there are shows and events happening throughout the year, and so instead of constantly posting I think I'm going to leave the link to their Facebook page here; www.facebook.com/theART247/
Anyone interested, feel free to check that out.

Second, one of the other resident Artists at ART247 started up a monthly art critique night, which I attend and am now also inviting you and any local Artists interested to attend;

"Critique night is a welcoming, laid-back evening for ALL artists of any medium to come together and share ideas and experiences, discuss techniques, and give and receive constructive feedback on works in progress or finished pieces.

Art Critique Night is a free event held every 2nd Tuesday of each month, 6-8 pm. We meet at ART247 (247 Market St. Lockport, NY)"

We have a Facebook group to help coordinate and share info outside of each meeting, which you are also welcome to join; www.facebook.com/groups/171542…

-------

Thank you for taking the time to check your notification today. If you or anyone you know is interested in joining in over at Lockport (or our group here on DA!) Spread this info, pass it on, let's help each other find new opportunities and be great Artists. :)

Thanks for the invite - request has been submitted.

Quick question, do you want only images made in WNY, or any art made by someone residing in WNY? I ask because a substantial portion of my portfolio is from images made while traveling.

Cheers!

Both actually. I'm hoping that members will use the group to promote WNY and show off their own work.

And while ideally members should be from the area, I listed it as a common interest group so that anyone's free to join regardless of where they actually live.

Thanks for your question, and welcome to the group,
~Kyle
